The Bear Pit Theatre

The Bear pit Theatre is a Registered Charity No: 1156259

Founded in 2008, The Bear Pit is a voluntary organisation which works to build a greater awareness of the performing and visual arts in the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon.
Based in Rother Street at the rear of the United Reformed Church, The Bear Pit, working closely with its church partners, has made great strides in the creation of a 100 seater “little theatre” ideally suited to the performance of many aspects of theatre as well as providing an intimate space as a community arts venue for smaller exhibitions, concerts and conversational events where audience participation maybe invited.
The Bear Pit Theatre is “a work in progress” and we strive to maintain, update and improve the facilities we offer.  In 2014 we were able to invest in a brand new lighting rig and, with grants from The United Reformed Church and the District Council, the theatre entrance pathway was upgraded to a user-friendly surface with uplighting to enable safe access for all users and particularly for those in wheelchairs.
Their Mission:  To advance public education in the arts and to promote knowledge, understanding and appreciation in the arts (in particular, visual and performing arts) by providing and managing a theatre and associated facilities in Stratford-upon-Avon and in the surrounding area for the public benefit.
