Easter at the Butterfly Farm

This Easter it's all about the 'Egg'!

Visitors can discover freshly laid eggs from tropical butterflies and see the caterpillars that have hatched out of them and the pupae they turn into.
28th March - 12th April

Visitors can discover freshly laid eggs from tropical butterflies and see the caterpillars that have hatched out of them and the pupae they turn into. To complete the lifecycle you may even see a butterfly hatch from its pupa within the Emerging Case!

During the Easter holidays the friendly and informative Education Team will once more be hosting the popular Meet the Mini-Beast, Butterfly Life Cycle, and Pupae demonstrations.

Visitors can see the entire life cycle of a butterfly - the egg, the caterpillar, the pupa and the adult butterfly.

These will take place daily in the Discovery Zone at 11:00am and 2:30pm.

Meet the Mini-Beast & Butterfly Life Cycle Demos - daily except Wednesday afternoons and Thursday 9 April.

Pupae Demos - Wednesday 1 & 8 April at 2:30pm

Holt Hall Apiary - Thursday 9 April 10:00am to 3:00pm.

Visitors can also discover the fascinating connection that Stratford Butterfly Farm has to the rainforests of Belize and the Ancient Maya Civilisation.

Their artefacts have been replicated and are on display throughout the Butterfly Farm.

The Maya were skilled at growing crops such as maize, chili pepper, beans and squash.

They also discovered the cacao pod giving us the delights of chocolate! Visitors can spot a couple of Cocao trees growing in the Flight Area.

If you like a quieter visit we recommend a 10:00 visit so that you can be the first in; or visit after 2.30/3pm as the afternoons are always quieter than the mornings.

Walk-ins on the day are welcome but during busy periods online bookings, season ticket holders, and those with Tesco QR codes take priority over on the day tickets, and you may be asked to wait before you enter.
