Sheep Street Sessions: On An Overgrown Path
It takes its name from the street in which the Town Hall stands. The site of one of Stratford’s markets from the mid 13th century, Sheep Street is deeply embedded in the town’s mythology and culture. The exquisite Town Hall, with its beautiful acoustics and central location, is the ideal venue to experience performances of the highest quality in an intimate setting.
On an Overgrown Path celebrates the diverse musical heritage of eastern European countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Serbia and Hungary. This tantalising evening combines traditional music passed down through the centuries with classical repertoire that has been influenced by a myriad of folk-infused flavours; from the pre-medieval sounds of Greece, Turkey, India and Egypt to the ‘art music’ of Brahms, Bartók, Kodály and Enescu.
Tickets: £30, £25 (Swan Friends), and £10 for under 35s
