Birmingham Symphonic Winds
Either Side of "The Pond"
Birmingham Symphonic Winds, one of the UK's leading Symphonic Wind Ensembles, will perform a celebratory evening of British and American music in Stratford-upon-Avon this summer.
The concert, entitled Either Side of "The Pond", takes place on Saturday 4 July 2026 at 7pm at Stratford-upon-Avon Methodist Church, Old Town, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6BG.
The programme draws on the rich musical traditions of both sides of the Atlantic, and includes: • Danceries – Kenneth Hesketh • Strike Up the Band – George Gershwin • My Fair Lady (selection) – Frederick Loewe • SPQR – Guy Woolfenden • American Salute – Morton Gould • Songs from Across the Water – Philip Sparke
The programme includes a special local connection: SPQR is by Guy Woolfenden, the much-loved composer who served as Music Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon for over three decades.
Birmingham Symphonic Winds is an award-winning ensemble recognised as one of the UK's top Symphonic Wind Ensembles. The orchestra is a winner of Classic FM's Big Platinum Performance award and an National Concert Band Festival (NCBF) Platinum Award winner.
