Safety Last!

Iconic 1923 slient comedy.

Following the closure of Stratford Playhouse, Orchestra of the Swan is thrilled to return to its roots, performing once again in the town on Wednesday 21 May at 8pm at the United Reformed Church. This special event features a newly composed score by Artistic Director David Le Page, written to accompany the iconic 1923 silent comedy Safety Last!.

Harold Lloyd’s portrayal of a small-town dreamer navigating the chaos of the big city is both charming and hilarious. His perfectly timed pratfalls and jaw-dropping stunts—most famously his daring climb up a skyscraper—remain as thrilling and laugh-out-loud funny as ever. Directed by Fred Newmeyer and Sam Taylor, Safety Last! continues to captivate audiences a century after its release.

Before the screening, the orchestra will also perform a short set inspired by the film, setting the scene for a truly immersive experience.

Safety Last! will be at the United Reformed Church (next door to the former Stratford PlayHouse) on Wednesday 21 May 2025 at 8pm.

Tickets cost £25 and £10 for under 35s and available from orchestraoftheswan.org

Please note: This will be a cashless event
A Booking fee will be applied per ticket purchased.
